rina is a punk rocker

so a story about yesterday I forgot to mention: while I was wandering around yesterday there were a whole bunch of kids in their high school uniforms standing on corners holding up signs for a rock concert a bunch of them had put together. there were going to be bands from schools all around the city.
they were on like every cornerthey must have printed hundreds of those postersoh my goodness they were excitedIMG_0656
eventually while i was exploring the city (lost) i found a huge hand throwing the horns. i followed it and ended up finding the rock fest. it was in a little concrete park with a big stage set up and little kids running sound checks on like 20 electric guitars.  there were kids skateboarding and like 200 others waiting on some benches people had set up.  it was starting in 10 minutes, and it’s not like i had anything better to do. so i sat down and waited for my ears to be assailed by the most badass rock the children of taiwan had to offer.
this is what i got.
at least they have spirit
his english could have been a tad better, but he tried and everyone in the audience really liked it. it was cute that all the kids set this up and performed for each other. you don’t see things like this back home.  it was a really nice way to pass an hour or two.
i leave you with my favorite performance. the lead singer was named, believe it or not, rina. afterwards i told the band i liked their song best and they were REALLY excited. fun times.

  1. The guy singing "Holiday" at least got River's stage presence right. Slouching, sort of confused with thick glasses and a bowl cut. He's really giving it his all. Go him.

  3. Very cute! At some point, I'd love for you to write an entry about why you decided to take this trip... for those of us who are less in touch with you than we'd like. :P
Also, if I never sent you the typed copy of my Europe journal, let me know. :)
